1 Tessalonicenses 2

1Porque vós mesmos, irmãos, bem sabeis que a nossa entrada para convosco não foi vã;

1For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain:

2Mas, mesmo depois de termos antes padecido, e sido agravados em Filipos, como sabeis, tornamo-nos ousados em nosso Deus, para vos falar o evangelho de Deus com grande combate.

2But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.

3Porque a nossa exortação não foi com engano, nem com imundícia, nem com fraudulência;

3For our exhortation {was} not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:

4Mas, como fomos aprovados de Deus para que o evangelho nos fosse confiado, assim falamos, não como para agradar aos homens, mas a Deus, que prova os nossos corações.

4But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

5Porque, como bem sabeis, nunca usamos de palavras lisonjeiras, nem houve um pretexto de avareza; Deus é testemunha;

5For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God {is} witness:

6E não buscamos glória dos homens, nem de vós, nem de outros, ainda que podíamos, como apóstolos de Cristo, ser-vos pesados;

6Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor {yet} of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ. {been...: or, used authority}

7Antes fomos brandos entre vós, como a ama que cria seus filhos.

7But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:

8Assim nós, sendo-vos tão afeiçoados, de boa vontade quiséramos comunicar-vos, não somente o evangelho de Deus, mas ainda as nossas próprias almas; porquanto nos éreis muito queridos.

8So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.

9Porque bem vos lembrais, irmãos, do nosso trabalho e fadiga; pois, trabalhando noite e dia, para não sermos pesados a nenhum de vós, vos pregamos o evangelho de Deus.

9For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.

10Vós e Deus sois testemunhas de quão santa, e justa, e irrepreensivelmente nos houvemos para convosco, os que crestes.

10Ye {are} witnesses, and God {also}, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:

11Assim como bem sabeis de que modo vos exortávamos e consolávamos e testemunhávamos, a cada um de vós, como o pai a seus filhos;

11As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father {doth} his children,

12Para que vos conduzísseis dignamente para com Deus, que vos chama para o seu reino e glória.

12That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.

13Por isso também damos, sem cessar, graças a Deus, pois, havendo recebido de nós a palavra da pregação de Deus, a recebestes, não como palavra de homens, mas (segundo é, na verdade), como palavra de Deus, a qual também opera em vós, os que crestes.

13For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received {it} not {as} the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

14Porque vós, irmãos, haveis sido feitos imitadores das igrejas de Deus que na Judéia estão em Jesus Cristo; porquanto também padecestes de vossos próprios concidadãos o mesmo que os judeus lhes fizeram a eles,

14For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they {have} of the Jews:

15Os quais também mataram o Senhor Jesus e os seus próprios profetas, e nos têm perseguido; e não agradam a Deus, e são contrários a todos os homens,

15Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: {persecuted us: or, chased us out}

16E nos impedem de pregar aos gentios as palavras da salvação, a fim de encherem sempre a medida de seus pecados; mas a ira de Deus caiu sobre eles até ao fim.

16Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

17Nós, porém, irmãos, sendo privados de vós por um momento de tempo, de vista, mas não do coração, tanto mais procuramos com grande desejo ver o vosso rosto;

17But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.

18Por isso bem quisemos uma e outra vez ir ter convosco, pelo menos eu, Paulo, mas Satanás no-lo impediu.

18Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.

19Porque, qual é a nossa esperança, ou gozo, ou coroa de glória? Porventura não o sois vós também diante de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo em sua vinda?

19For what {is} our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? {Are} not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? {rejoicing: or, glorying?}

20Na verdade vós sois a nossa glória e gozo.

20For ye are our glory and joy.
