1 Samuel 3

1E o jovem Samuel servia ao SENHOR perante Eli; e a palavra do SENHOR era de muita valia naqueles dias; não havia visão manifesta.

1And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; {there was} no open vision.

2E sucedeu, naquele dia, que, estando Eli deitado no seu lugar (e os seus olhos começavam a escurecer, pois não podia ver),

2And it came to pass at that time, when Eli {was} laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, {that} he could not see;

3E estando também Samuel já deitado, antes que a lâmpada de Deus se apagasse no templo do Senhor, onde estava a arca de Deus,

3And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God {was}, and Samuel was laid down {to sleep};

4O Senhor chamou a Samuel, e disse ele: Eis-me aqui.

4That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here {am} I.

5E correu a Eli, e disse: Eis-me aqui, porque tu me chamaste. Mas ele disse: Não te chamei eu, torna a deitar-te. E foi e se deitou.

5And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here {am} I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down.

6E o Senhor tornou a chamar outra vez a Samuel, e Samuel se levantou, e foi a Eli, e disse: Eis-me aqui, porque tu me chamaste. Mas ele disse: Não te chamei eu, filho meu, torna a deitar-te.

6And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here {am} I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.

7Porém Samuel ainda não conhecia ao Senhor, e ainda não lhe tinha sido manifestada a palavra do Senhor.

7Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him. {Now...: or, Thus did Samuel before he knew the LORD, and before the word of the LORD was revealed unto him}

8O Senhor, pois, tornou a chamar a Samuel terceira vez, e ele se levantou, e foi a Eli, e disse: Eis-me aqui, porque tu me chamaste. Então entendeu Eli que o Senhor chamava o jovem.

8And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here {am} I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child.

9Por isso Eli disse a Samuel: Vai deitar-te e há de ser que, se te chamar, dirás: Fala, Senhor, porque o teu servo ouve. Então Samuel foi e se deitou no seu lugar.

9Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.

10Então veio o Senhor, e pôs-se ali, e chamou como das outras vezes: Samuel, Samuel. E disse Samuel: Fala, porque o teu servo ouve.

10And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.

11E disse o Senhor a Samuel: Eis que vou fazer uma coisa em Israel, a qual todo o que ouvir lhe tinirão ambos os ouvidos.

11And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle.

12Naquele mesmo dia suscitarei contra Eli tudo quanto tenho falado contra a sua casa, começarei e acabarei.

12In that day I will perform against Eli all {things} which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end. {when...: Heb. beginning and ending}

13Porque eu já lhe fiz saber que julgarei a sua casa para sempre, pela iniqüidade que ele bem conhecia, porque, fazendo-se os seus filhos execráveis, não os repreendeu.

13For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not. {For I...: or, And I will tell him} {vile: or, accursed} {restrained...: Heb. frowned not upon them}

14Portanto, jurei à casa de Eli que nunca jamais será expiada a sua iniqüidade, nem com sacrifício, nem com oferta de alimentos.

14And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering for ever.

15E Samuel ficou deitado até pela manhã, e então abriu as portas da casa do Senhor; porém temia Samuel relatar esta visão a Eli.

15And Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of the LORD. And Samuel feared to shew Eli the vision.

16Então chamou Eli a Samuel, e disse: Samuel, meu filho. E disse ele: Eis-me aqui.

16Then Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here {am} I.

17E ele disse: Qual é a palavra que te falou? Peço-te que não ma encubras; assim Deus te faça, e outro tanto, se me encobrires alguma palavra de todas as que te falou.

17And he said, What {is} the thing that {the LORD} hath said unto thee? I pray thee hide {it} not from me: God do so to thee, and more also, if thou hide {any} thing from me of all the things that he said unto thee. {more also: Heb. so add} {thing: or, word}

18Então Samuel lhe contou todas aquelas palavras, e nada lhe encobriu. E disse ele: Ele é o Senhor; faça o que bem parecer aos seus olhos.

18And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It {is} the LORD: let him do what seemeth him good. {every...: Heb. all the things, or, words}

19E crescia Samuel, e o Senhor era com ele, e nenhuma de todas as suas palavras deixou cair em terra.

19And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.

20E todo o Israel, desde Dã até Berseba, conheceu que Samuel estava confirmado por profeta do Senhor.

20And all Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel {was} established {to be} a prophet of the LORD. {established: or, faithful}

21E continuou o Senhor a aparecer em Siló; porquanto o Senhor se manifestava a Samuel em Siló pela palavra do Senhor.

21And the LORD appeared again in Shiloh: for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the LORD.
