1 Samuel 24

1E sucedeu que, voltando Saul de perseguir os filisteus, anunciaram-lhe, dizendo: Eis que Davi está no deserto de En-Gedi.

1And it came to pass, when Saul was returned from following the Philistines, that it was told him, saying, Behold, David {is} in the wilderness of Engedi. {following: Heb. after}

2Então tomou Saul três mil homens, escolhidos dentre todo o Israel, e foi em busca de Davi e dos seus homens, até sobre os cumes das penhas das cabras montesas.

2Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men upon the rocks of the wild goats.

3E chegou a uns currais de ovelhas no caminho, onde estava uma caverna; e entrou nela Saul, a cobrir seus pés; e Davi e os seus homens estavam nos fundos da caverna.

3And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where {was} a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men remained in the sides of the cave.

4Então os homens de Davi lhe disseram: Eis aqui o dia, do qual o Senhor te diz: Eis que te dou o teu inimigo nas tuas mãos, e far-lhe-ás como te parecer bem aos teus olhos. E levantou-se Davi, e mansamente cortou a orla do manto de Saul.

4And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the LORD said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe privily. {Saul's...: Heb. the robe which was Saul's}

5Sucedeu, porém, que depois o coração doeu a Davi, por ter cortado a orla do manto de Saul.

5And it came to pass afterward, that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt.

6E disse aos seus homens: O SENHOR me guarde de que eu faça tal coisa ao meu senhor, ao ungido do SENHOR, estendendo eu a minha mão contra ele; pois é o ungido do SENHOR.

6And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the LORD'S anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he {is} the anointed of the LORD.

7E com estas palavras Davi conteve os seus homens, e não lhes permitiu que se levantassem contra Saul; e Saul se levantou da caverna, e prosseguiu o seu caminho.

7So David stayed his servants with these words, and suffered them not to rise against Saul. But Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on {his} way. {stayed: Heb. cut off}

8Depois também Davi se levantou, e saiu da caverna, e gritou por detrás de Saul, dizendo: Rei, meu senhor! E, olhando Saul para trás, Davi se inclinou com o rosto em terra, e se prostrou.

8David also arose afterward, and went out of the cave, and cried after Saul, saying, My lord the king. And when Saul looked behind him, David stooped with his face to the earth, and bowed himself.

9E disse Davi a Saul: Por que dás tu ouvidos às palavras dos homens que dizem: Eis que Davi procura o teu mal?

9And David said to Saul, Wherefore hearest thou men's words, saying, Behold, David seeketh thy hurt?

10Eis que este dia os teus olhos viram, que o SENHOR hoje te pôs em minhas mãos nesta caverna, e alguns disseram que te matasse; porém a minha mão te poupou; porque disse: Não estenderei a minha mão contra o meu senhor, pois é o ungido do SENHOR.

10Behold, this day thine eyes have seen how that the LORD had delivered thee to day into mine hand in the cave: and {some} bade {me} kill thee: but {mine eye} spared thee; and I said, I will not put forth mine hand against my lord; for he {is} the LORD'S anointed.

11Olha, pois, meu pai, vê aqui a orla do teu manto na minha mão; porque cortando-te eu a orla do manto, não te matei. Sabe, pois, e vê que não há na minha mão nem mal nem rebeldia alguma, e não pequei contra ti; porém tu andas à caça da minha vida, para ma tirares.

11Moreover, my father, see, yea, see the skirt of thy robe in my hand: for in that I cut off the skirt of thy robe, and killed thee not, know thou and see that {there is} neither evil nor transgression in mine hand, and I have not sinned against thee; yet thou huntest my soul to take it.

12Julgue o Senhor entre mim e ti, e vingue-me o Senhor de ti; porém a minha mão não será contra ti.

12The LORD judge between me and thee, and the LORD avenge me of thee: but mine hand shall not be upon thee.

13Como diz o provérbio dos antigos: Dos ímpios procede a impiedade; porém a minha mão não será contra ti.

13As saith the proverb of the ancients, Wickedness proceedeth from the wicked: but mine hand shall not be upon thee.

14Após quem saiu o rei de Israel? A quem persegues? A um cão morto? A uma pulga?

14After whom is the king of Israel come out? after whom dost thou pursue? after a dead dog, after a flea.

15O Senhor, porém, será juiz, e julgará entre mim e ti, e verá, e advogará a minha causa, e me defenderá da tua mão.

15The LORD therefore be judge, and judge between me and thee, and see, and plead my cause, and deliver me out of thine hand. {deliver: Heb. judge}

16E sucedeu que, acabando Davi de falar a Saul todas estas palavras, disse Saul: É esta a tua voz, meu filho Davi? Então Saul levantou a sua voz e chorou.

16And it came to pass, when David had made an end of speaking these words unto Saul, that Saul said, {Is} this thy voice, my son David? And Saul lifted up his voice, and wept.

17E disse a Davi: Mais justo és do que eu; pois tu me recompensaste com bem, e eu te recompensei com mal.

17And he said to David, Thou {art} more righteous than I: for thou hast rewarded me good, whereas I have rewarded thee evil.

18E tu mostraste hoje que procedeste bem para comigo, pois o Senhor me tinha posto em tuas mãos, e tu não me mataste.

18And thou hast shewed this day how that thou hast dealt well with me: forasmuch as when the LORD had delivered me into thine hand, thou killedst me not. {delivered: Heb. shut up}

19Porque, quem há que, encontrando o seu inimigo, o deixaria ir por bom caminho? O Senhor, pois, te pague com bem, por isso que hoje me fizeste.

19For if a man find his enemy, will he let him go well away? wherefore the LORD reward thee good for that thou hast done unto me this day.

20Agora, pois, eis que bem sei que certamente hás de reinar, e que o reino de Israel há de ser firme na tua mão.

20And now, behold, I know well that thou shalt surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in thine hand.

21Portanto agora jura-me pelo Senhor que não desarraigarás a minha descendência depois de mim, nem desfarás o meu nome da casa de meu pai.

21Swear now therefore unto me by the LORD, that thou wilt not cut off my seed after me, and that thou wilt not destroy my name out of my father's house.

22Então jurou Davi a Saul. E foi Saul para a sua casa; porém Davi e os seus homens subiram ao lugar forte.

22And David sware unto Saul. And Saul went home; but David and his men gat them up unto the hold.
