1 Samuel 23

1E foi anunciado a Davi, dizendo: Eis que os filisteus pelejam contra Queila, e saqueiam as eiras.

1Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshingfloors.

2E consultou Davi ao Senhor, dizendo: Irei eu, e ferirei a estes filisteus? E disse o Senhor a Davi: Vai, e ferirás aos filisteus, e livrarás a Queila.

2Therefore David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the LORD said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.

3Porém os homens de Davi lhe disseram: Eis que tememos aqui em Judá, quanto mais indo a Queila contra os esquadrões dos filisteus.

3And David's men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?

4Então Davi tornou a consultar ao Senhor, e o Senhor lhe respondeu, e disse: Levanta-te, desce a Queila, porque te dou os filisteus na tua mão.

4Then David enquired of the LORD yet again. And the LORD answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand.

5Então Davi partiu com os seus homens a Queila, e pelejou contra os filisteus, e levou os gados, e fez grande estrago entre eles; e Davi livrou os moradores de Queila.

5So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.

6E sucedeu que, quando Abiatar, filho de Aimeleque, fugiu para Davi, a Queila, desceu com o éfode na mão.

6And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, {that} he came down {with} an ephod in his hand.

7E foi anunciado a Saul que Davi tinha ido a Queila, e disse Saul: Deus o entregou nas minhas mãos, pois está encerrado, entrando numa cidade de portas e ferrolhos.

7And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, God hath delivered him into mine hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars.

8Então Saul mandou chamar a todo o povo à peleja, para que descessem a Queila, para cercar a Davi e os seus homens.

8And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.

9Sabendo, pois, Davi, que Saul maquinava este mal contra ele, disse a Abiatar, sacerdote: Traze aqui o éfode.

9And David knew that Saul secretly practised mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.

10E disse Davi: Ó Senhor, Deus de Israel, teu servo tem ouvido que Saul procura vir a Queila, para destruir a cidade por causa de mim.

10Then said David, O LORD God of Israel, thy servant hath certainly heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake.

11Entregar-me-ão os cidadãos de Queila na sua mão? Descerá Saul, como o teu servo tem ouvido? Ah! Senhor Deus de Israel! Faze-o saber ao teu servo. E disse o Senhor: Descerá.

11Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O LORD God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the LORD said, He will come down.

12Disse mais Davi: Entregar-me-ão os cidadãos de Queila, a mim e aos meus homens, nas mãos de Saul? E disse o Senhor: Entregarão.

12Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the LORD said, They will deliver {thee} up. {deliver: Heb. shut up}

13Então Davi se levantou com os seus homens, uns seiscentos, e saíram de Queila, e foram-se aonde puderam; e sendo anunciado a Saul, que Davi escapara de Queila, cessou de sair contra ele.

13Then David and his men, {which were} about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah; and he forbare to go forth.

14E Davi permaneceu no deserto, nos lugares fortes, e ficou em um monte no deserto de Zife; e Saul o buscava todos os dias, porém Deus não o entregou na sua mão.

14And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.

15Vendo, pois, Davi, que Saul saíra à busca da sua vida, permaneceu no deserto de Zife, num bosque.

15And David saw that Saul was come out to seek his life: and David {was} in the wilderness of Ziph in a wood.

16Então se levantou Jônatas, filho de Saul, e foi para Davi no bosque, e confortou a sua mão em Deus;

16And Jonathan Saul's son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.

17E disse-lhe: Não temas, que não te achará a mão de Saul, meu pai; porém tu reinarás sobre Israel, e eu serei contigo o segundo; o que também Saul, meu pai, bem sabe.

17And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth.

18E ambos fizeram aliança perante o Senhor; Davi ficou no bosque, e Jônatas voltou para a sua casa.

18And they two made a covenant before the LORD: and David abode in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house.

19Então subiram os zifeus a Saul, a Gibeá, dizendo: Não se escondeu Davi entre nós, nos lugares fortes no bosque, no outeiro de Haquilá, que está à mão direita de Jesimom?

19Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which {is} on the south of Jeshimon? {on...: Heb. on the right hand} {Jeshimon: or, the wilderness}

20Agora, pois, ó rei, apressadamente desce conforme a todo o desejo da tua alma; a nós cumpre entregá-lo nas mãos do rei.

20Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of thy soul to come down; and our part {shall be} to deliver him into the king's hand.

21Então disse Saul: Bendito sejais vós do Senhor, porque vos compadecestes de mim.

21And Saul said, Blessed {be} ye of the LORD; for ye have compassion on me.

22Ide, pois, e diligenciai ainda mais, e sabei e notai o lugar que freqüenta, e quem o tenha visto ali; porque me foi dito que é astutíssimo.

22Go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see his place where his haunt is, {and} who hath seen him there: for it is told me {that} he dealeth very subtilly. {haunt...: Heb. foot shall be}

23Por isso atentai bem, e informai-vos acerca de todos os esconderijos, em que ele se esconde; e então voltai para mim com toda a certeza, e ir-me-ei convosco; e há de ser que, se estiver naquela terra, o buscarei entre todos os milhares de Judá.

23See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hideth himself, and come ye again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah.

24Então se levantaram eles e se foram a Zife, adiante de Saul; Davi, porém, e os seus homens estavam no deserto de Maom, na campina, à direita de Jesimom.

24And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: but David and his men {were} in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon.

25E Saul e os seus homens se foram em busca dele; o que anunciaram a Davi, que desceu para aquela penha, e ficou no deserto de Maom; o que ouvindo Saul, seguiu a Davi para o deserto de Maom.

25Saul also and his men went to seek {him}. And they told David: wherefore he came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard {that}, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon. {into...: or, from the rock}

26E Saul ia deste lado do monte, e Davi e os seus homens do outro lado do monte; e, temeroso, Davi se apressou a escapar de Saul; Saul, porém, e os seus homens cercaram a Davi e aos seus homens, para lançar mão deles.

26And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.

27Então veio um mensageiro a Saul, dizendo: Apressa-te, e vem, porque os filisteus com ímpeto entraram na terra.

27But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land. {invaded...: Heb. spread themselves upon, etc}

28Por isso Saul voltou de perseguir a Davi, e foi ao encontro dos filisteus; por esta razão aquele lugar se chamou Rochedo das Divisões.

28Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Selahammahlekoth. {Selahammahlekoth: that is, The rock of divisions}

29E subiu Davi dali, e ficou nos lugares fortes de En-Gedi.

29And David went up from thence, and dwelt in strong holds at Engedi.
