1 Samuel 12

1Então disse Samuel a todo o Israel: Eis que ouvi a vossa voz em tudo quanto me dissestes, e constituí sobre vós um rei.

1And Samuel said unto all Israel, Behold, I have hearkened unto your voice in all that ye said unto me, and have made a king over you.

2Agora, pois, eis que o rei vai adiante de vós. Eu já envelheci e encaneci, e eis que meus filhos estão convosco, e tenho andado diante de vós desde a minha mocidade até ao dia de hoje.

2And now, behold, the king walketh before you: and I am old and grayheaded; and, behold, my sons {are} with you: and I have walked before you from my childhood unto this day.

3Eis-me aqui; testificai contra mim perante o Senhor, e perante o seu ungido, a quem o boi tomei, a quem o jumento tomei, e a quem defraudei, a quem tenho oprimido, e de cuja mão tenho recebido suborno e com ele encobri os meus olhos, e vo-lo restituirei.

3Behold, here I {am}: witness against me before the LORD, and before his anointed: whose ox have I taken? or whose ass have I taken? or whom have I defrauded? whom have I oppressed? or of whose hand have I received {any} bribe to blind mine eyes therewith? and I will restore it you. {bribe: Heb. ransom} {to blind...: or, that I should hide mine eyes at him}

4Então disseram: Em nada nos defraudaste, nem nos oprimiste, nem recebeste coisa alguma da mão de ninguém.

4And they said, Thou hast not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither hast thou taken ought of any man's hand.

5E ele lhes disse: O Senhor seja testemunha contra vós, e o seu ungido seja hoje testemunha, que nada tendes achado na minha mão. E disse o povo: Ele é testemunha.

5And he said unto them, The LORD {is} witness against you, and his anointed {is} witness this day, that ye have not found ought in my hand. And they answered, {He is} witness.

6Então disse Samuel ao povo: O Senhor é o que escolheu a Moisés e a Arão, e tirou a vossos pais da terra do Egito.

6And Samuel said unto the people, {It is} the LORD that advanced Moses and Aaron, and that brought your fathers up out of the land of Egypt. {advanced: or, made}

7Agora, pois, ponde-vos aqui em pé, e pleitearei convosco perante o Senhor, sobre todos os atos de justiça do Senhor, que fez a vós e a vossos pais.

7Now therefore stand still, that I may reason with you before the LORD of all the righteous acts of the LORD, which he did to you and to your fathers. {righteous...: Heb. righteousnesses, or, benefits} {to: Heb. with}

8Havendo entrado Jacó no Egito, vossos pais clamaram ao Senhor, e o Senhor enviou a Moisés e a Arão que tiraram a vossos pais do Egito, e os fizeram habitar neste lugar.

8When Jacob was come into Egypt, and your fathers cried unto the LORD, then the LORD sent Moses and Aaron, which brought forth your fathers out of Egypt, and made them dwell in this place.

9Porém esqueceram-se do Senhor seu Deus; então os vendeu à mão de Sísera, capitão do exército de Hazor, e na mão dos filisteus, e na mão do rei dos moabitas, que pelejaram contra eles.

9And when they forgat the LORD their God, he sold them into the hand of Sisera, captain of the host of Hazor, and into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the king of Moab, and they fought against them.

10E clamaram ao Senhor, e disseram: Pecamos, pois deixamos ao Senhor, e servimos aos baalins e astarotes; agora, pois, livra-nos da mão de nossos inimigos, e te serviremos.

10And they cried unto the LORD, and said, We have sinned, because we have forsaken the LORD, and have served Baalim and Ashtaroth: but now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will serve thee.

11E o Senhor enviou a Jerubaal, e a Bedã, e a Jefté, e a Samuel; e livrou-vos da mão de vossos inimigos em redor, e habitastes seguros.

11And the LORD sent Jerubbaal, and Bedan, and Jephthah, and Samuel, and delivered you out of the hand of your enemies on every side, and ye dwelled safe.

12E vendo vós que Naás, rei dos filhos de Amom, vinha contra vós, me dissestes: Não, mas reinará sobre nós um rei; sendo, porém, o Senhor vosso Deus, o vosso rei.

12And when ye saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, ye said unto me, Nay; but a king shall reign over us: when the LORD your God {was} your king.

13Agora, pois, vedes aí o rei que elegestes e que pedistes; e eis que o Senhor tem posto sobre vós um rei.

13Now therefore behold the king whom ye have chosen, {and} whom ye have desired! and, behold, the LORD hath set a king over you.

14Se temerdes ao Senhor, e o servirdes, e derdes ouvidos à sua voz, e não fordes rebeldes ao mandado do Senhor, assim vós, como o rei que reina sobre vós, seguireis o Senhor vosso Deus.

14If ye will fear the LORD, and serve him, and obey his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall both ye and also the king that reigneth over you continue following the LORD your God: {commandment: Heb. mouth} {continue...: Heb. be after}

15Mas se não derdes ouvidos à voz do Senhor, e antes fordes rebeldes ao mandado do Senhor, a mão do Senhor será contra vós, como o era contra vossos pais.

15But if ye will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall the hand of the LORD be against you, as {it was} against your fathers.

16Ponde-vos também agora aqui, e vede esta grande coisa que o Senhor vai fazer diante dos vossos olhos.

16Now therefore stand and see this great thing, which the LORD will do before your eyes.

17Não é hoje a sega do trigo? Clamarei, pois, ao Senhor, e dará trovões e chuva; e sabereis e vereis que é grande a vossa maldade, que tendes feito perante o Senhor, pedindo para vós um rei.

17{Is it} not wheat harvest to day? I will call unto the LORD, and he shall send thunder and rain; that ye may perceive and see that your wickedness {is} great, which ye have done in the sight of the LORD, in asking you a king.

18Então invocou Samuel ao Senhor, e o Senhor deu trovões e chuva naquele dia; por isso todo o povo temeu sobremaneira ao Senhor e a Samuel.

18So Samuel called unto the LORD; and the LORD sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel.

19E todo o povo disse a Samuel: Roga pelos teus servos ao Senhor teu Deus, para que não venhamos a morrer; porque a todos os nossos pecados temos acrescentado este mal, de pedirmos para nós um rei.

19And all the people said unto Samuel, Pray for thy servants unto the LORD thy God, that we die not: for we have added unto all our sins {this} evil, to ask us a king.

20Então disse Samuel ao povo: Não temais; vós tendes cometido todo este mal; porém não vos desvieis de seguir ao Senhor, mas servi ao Senhor com todo o vosso coração.

20And Samuel said unto the people, Fear not: ye have done all this wickedness: yet turn not aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart;

21E não vos desvieis; pois seguiríeis as vaidades, que nada aproveitam, e tampouco vos livrarão, porque vaidades são.

21And turn ye not aside: for {then should ye go} after vain {things}, which cannot profit nor deliver; for they {are} vain.

22Pois o Senhor, por causa do seu grande nome, não desamparará o seu povo; porque aprouve ao Senhor fazer-vos o seu povo.

22For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name's sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you his people.

23E quanto a mim, longe de mim que eu peque contra o Senhor, deixando de orar por vós; antes vos ensinarei o caminho bom e direito.

23Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way: {in: Heb. from}

24Tão-somente temei ao Senhor, e servi-o fielmente com todo o vosso coração; porque vede quão grandiosas coisas vos fez.

24Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great {things} he hath done for you. {how...: or, what a great thing}

25Porém, se perseverardes em fazer mal, perecereis, assim vós como o vosso rei.

25But if ye shall still do wickedly, ye shall be consumed, both ye and your king.
