1E sucedeu depois destas coisas que, Nabote, o jizreelita, tinha uma vinha em Jizreel junto ao palácio de Acabe, rei de Samaria.

1And it came to pass after these things, {that} Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard, which {was} in Jezreel, hard by the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.

2Então Acabe falou a Nabote, dizendo: Dá-me a tua vinha, para que me sirva de horta, pois está vizinha ao lado da minha casa; e te darei por ela outra vinha melhor: ou, se for do teu agrado, dar-te-ei o seu valor em dinheiro.

2And Ahab spake unto Naboth, saying, Give me thy vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it {is} near unto my house: and I will give thee for it a better vineyard than it; {or}, if it seem good to thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money. {seem...: Heb. be good in thine eyes}

3Porém Nabote disse a Acabe: Guarde-me o Senhor de que eu te dê a herança de meus pais.

3And Naboth said to Ahab, The LORD forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers unto thee.

4Então Acabe veio desgostoso e indignado à sua casa, por causa da palavra que Nabote, o jizreelita, lhe falara, quando disse: Não te darei a herança de meus pais. E deitou-se na sua cama, e voltou o rosto, e não comeu pão.

4And Ahab came into his house heavy and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him: for he had said, I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he laid him down upon his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread.

5Porém, vindo a ele Jezabel, sua mulher, lhe disse: Que há, que está tão desgostoso o teu espírito, e não comes pão?

5But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said unto him, Why is thy spirit so sad, that thou eatest no bread?

6E ele lhe disse: Porque falei a Nabote, o jizreelita, e lhe disse: Dá-me a tua vinha por dinheiro; ou, se te apraz, te darei outra vinha em seu lugar. Porém ele disse: Não te darei a minha vinha.

6And he said unto her, Because I spake unto Naboth the Jezreelite, and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee {another} vineyard for it: and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard.

7Então Jezabel, sua mulher lhe disse: Governas tu agora no reino de Israel? Levanta-te, come pão, e alegre-se o teu coração; eu te darei a vinha de Nabote, o jizreelita.

7And Jezebel his wife said unto him, Dost thou now govern the kingdom of Israel? arise, {and} eat bread, and let thine heart be merry: I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.

8Então escreveu cartas em nome de Acabe, e as selou com o seu sinete; e mandou as cartas aos anciãos e aos nobres que havia na sua cidade e habitavam com Nabote.

8So she wrote letters in Ahab's name, and sealed {them} with his seal, and sent the letters unto the elders and to the nobles that {were} in his city, dwelling with Naboth.

9E escreveu nas cartas, dizendo: Apregoai um jejum, e ponde Nabote diante do povo.

9And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people: {on high...: Heb. in the top of the people}

10E ponde defronte dele dois filhos de Belial, que testemunhem contra ele, dizendo: Blasfemaste contra Deus e contra o rei; e trazei-o fora, e apedrejai-o para que morra.

10And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And {then} carry him out, and stone him, that he may die.

11E os homens da sua cidade, os anciãos e os nobres que habitavam na sua cidade, fizeram como Jezabel lhes ordenara, conforme estava escrito nas cartas que lhes mandara.

11And the men of his city, {even} the elders and the nobles who were the inhabitants in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them, {and} as it {was} written in the letters which she had sent unto them.

12Apregoaram um jejum, e puseram a Nabote diante do povo.

12They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people.

13Então vieram dois homens, filhos de Belial, e puseram-se defronte dele; e os homens, filhos de Belial, testemunharam contra ele, contra Nabote, perante o povo, dizendo: Nabote blasfemou contra Deus e contra o rei. E o levaram para fora da cidade, e o apedrejaram, e morreu.

13And there came in two men, children of Belial, and sat before him: and the men of Belial witnessed against him, {even} against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did blaspheme God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died.

14Então mandaram dizer a Jezabel: Nabote foi apedrejado, e morreu.

14Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, Naboth is stoned, and is dead.

15E sucedeu que, ouvindo Jezabel que já fora apedrejado Nabote, e morrera, disse a Acabe: Levanta-te, e possui a vinha de Nabote, o jizreelita, a qual te recusou dar por dinheiro; porque Nabote não vive, mas é morto.

15And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth was stoned, and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give thee for money: for Naboth is not alive, but dead.

16E sucedeu que, ouvindo Acabe, que Nabote já era morto, levantou-se para descer para a vinha de Nabote, o jizreelita, para tomar posse dela.

16And it came to pass, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab rose up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.

17Então veio a palavra do Senhor a Elias, o tisbita, dizendo:

17And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

18Levanta-te, desce para encontrar-te com Acabe, rei de Israel, que está em Samaria; eis que está na vinha de Nabote, aonde tem descido para possuí-la.

18Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, which {is} in Samaria: behold, {he is} in the vineyard of Naboth, whither he is gone down to possess it.

19E falar-lhe-ás, dizendo: Assim diz o Senhor: Porventura não mataste e tomaste a herança? Falar-lhe-ás mais, dizendo: Assim diz o Senhor: No lugar em que os cães lamberam o sangue de Nabote lamberão também o teu próprio sangue.

19And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou killed, and also taken possession? And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine.

20E disse Acabe a Elias: Já me achaste, inimigo meu? E ele disse: Achei-te; porquanto já te vendeste para fazeres o que é mau aos olhos do Senhor.

20And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O mine enemy? And he answered, I have found {thee}: because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.

21Eis que trarei mal sobre ti, e arrancarei a tua posteridade, e arrancarei de Acabe a todo o homem, tanto o escravo como o livre em Israel;

21Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel,

22E farei a tua casa como a casa de Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, e como a casa de Baasa, filho de Aías; por causa da provocação, com que me provocaste e fizeste pecar a Israel.

22And will make thine house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation wherewith thou hast provoked {me} to anger, and made Israel to sin.

23E também acerca de Jezabel falou o Senhor, dizendo: Os cães comerão a Jezabel junto ao antemuro de Jizreel.

23And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel. {wall: or, ditch}

24Aquele que morrer dos de Acabe, na cidade, os cães o comerão; e o que morrer no campo as aves do céu o comerão.

24Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat.

25Porém ninguém fora como Acabe, que se vendera para fazer o que era mau aos olhos do Senhor; porque Jezabel, sua mulher, o incitava.

25But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up. {stirred...: or, incited}

26E fez grandes abominações, seguindo os ídolos, conforme a tudo o que fizeram os amorreus, os quais o Senhor lançou fora da sua possessão, de diante dos filhos de Israel.

26And he did very abominably in following idols, according to all {things} as did the Amorites, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

27Sucedeu, pois, que Acabe, ouvindo estas palavras, rasgou as suas vestes, e cobriu a sua carne de saco, e jejuou; e jazia em saco, e andava mansamente.

27And it came to pass, when Ahab heard those words, that he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly.

28Então veio a palavra do Senhor a Elias tisbita, dizendo:

28And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

29Não viste que Acabe se humilha perante mim? Por isso, porquanto se humilha perante mim, não trarei este mal nos seus dias, mas nos dias de seu filho o trarei sobre a sua casa.

29Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: {but} in his son's days will I bring the evil upon his house.
