1 Pedro 3

1Semelhantemente, vós, mulheres, sede sujeitas aos vossos próprios maridos; para que também, se alguns não obedecem à palavra, pelo porte de suas mulheres sejam ganhos sem palavra;

1Likewise, ye wives, {be} in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;

2Considerando a vossa vida casta, em temor.

2While they behold your chaste conversation {coupled} with fear.

3O enfeite delas não seja o exterior, no frisado dos cabelos, no uso de jóias de ouro, na compostura dos vestidos;

3Whose adorning let it not be that outward {adorning} of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

4Mas o homem encoberto no coração; no incorruptível traje de um espírito manso e quieto, que é precioso diante de Deus.

4But {let it be} the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, {even the ornament} of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

5Porque assim se adornavam também antigamente as santas mulheres que esperavam em Deus, e estavam sujeitas aos seus próprios maridos;

5For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

6Como Sara obedecia a Abraão, chamando-lhe senhor; da qual vós sois filhas, fazendo o bem, e não temendo nenhum espanto.

6Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement. {daughters: Gr. children}

7Igualmente vós, maridos, coabitai com elas com entendimento, dando honra à mulher, como vaso mais fraco; como sendo vós os seus co-herdeiros da graça da vida; para que não sejam impedidas as vossas orações.

7Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with {them} according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

8E, finalmente, sede todos de um mesmo sentimento, compassivos, amando os irmãos, entranhavelmente misericordiosos e afáveis.

8Finally, {be ye} all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, {be} pitiful, {be} courteous: {love as: or, loving to the}

9Não tornando mal por mal, ou injúria por injúria; antes, pelo contrário, bendizendo; sabendo que para isto fostes chamados, para que por herança alcanceis a bênção.

9Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

10Porque Quem quer amar a vida, E ver os dias bons, Refreie a sua língua do mal, E os seus lábios não falem engano.

10For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:

11Aparte-se do mal, e faça o bem; Busque a paz, e siga-a.

11Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.

12Porque os olhos do Senhor estão sobre os justos, E os seus ouvidos atentos às suas orações; Mas o rosto do Senhor é contra os que fazem o mal.

12For the eyes of the Lord {are} over the righteous, and his ears {are open} unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord {is} against them that do evil. {against: Gr. upon}

13E qual é aquele que vos fará mal, se fordes seguidores do bem?

13And who {is} he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?

14Mas também, se padecerdes por amor da justiça, sois bemaventurados. E não temais com medo deles, nem vos turbeis;

14But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy {are ye}: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;

15Antes, santificai ao Senhor Deus em vossos corações; e estai sempre preparados para responder com mansidão e temor a qualquer que vos pedir a razão da esperança que há em vós,

15But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and {be} ready always to {give} an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: {fear: or, reverence}

16Tendo uma boa consciência, para que, naquilo em que falam mal de vós, como de malfeitores, fiquem confundidos os que blasfemam do vosso bom porte em Cristo.

16Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

17Porque melhor é que padeçais fazendo bem (se a vontade de Deus assim o quer), do que fazendo mal.

17For {it is} better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

18Porque também Cristo padeceu uma vez pelos pecados, o justo pelos injustos, para levar-nos a Deus; mortificado, na verdade, na carne, mas vivificado pelo Espírito;

18For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

19No qual também foi, e pregou aos espíritos em prisão;

19By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

20Os quais noutro tempo foram rebeldes, quando a longanimidade de Deus esperava nos dias de Noé, enquanto se preparava a arca; na qual poucas (isto é, oito) almas se salvaram pela água;

20Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

21Que também, como uma verdadeira figura, agora vos salva, o batismo, não do despojamento da imundícia da carne, mas da indagação de uma boa consciência para com Deus, pela ressurreição de Jesus Cristo;

21The like figure whereunto {even} baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

22O qual está à destra de Deus, tendo subido ao céu, havendo-se-lhe sujeitado os anjos, e as autoridades, e as potências.

22Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
