1 João 4

1Amados, não creiais a todo o espírito, mas provai se os espíritos são de Deus, porque já muitos falsos profetas se têm levantado no mundo.

1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

2Nisto conhecereis o Espírito de Deus: Todo o espírito que confessa que Jesus Cristo veio em carne é de Deus;

2Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

3E todo o espírito que não confessa que Jesus Cristo veio em carne não é de Deus; mas este é o espírito do anticristo, do qual já ouvistes que há de vir, e eis que já agora está no mundo.

3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that {spirit} of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

4Filhinhos, sois de Deus, e já os tendes vencido; porque maior é o que está em vós do que o que está no mundo.

4Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

5Do mundo são, por isso falam do mundo, e o mundo os ouve.

5They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

6Nós somos de Deus; aquele que conhece a Deus ouve-nos; aquele que não é de Deus não nos ouve. Nisto conhecemos nós o espírito da verdade e o espírito do erro.

6We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

7Amados, amemo-nos uns aos outros; porque o amor é de Deus; e qualquer que ama é nascido de Deus e conhece a Deus.

7Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. {is born: Gr. has been born}

8Aquele que não ama não conhece a Deus; porque Deus é amor.

8He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

9Nisto se manifestou o amor de Deus para conosco: que Deus enviou seu Filho unigênito ao mundo, para que por ele vivamos.

9In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

10Nisto está o amor, não em que nós tenhamos amado a Deus, mas em que ele nos amou a nós, e enviou seu Filho para propiciação pelos nossos pecados.

10Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son {to be} the propitiation for our sins.

11Amados, se Deus assim nos amou, também nòs devemos amar uns aos outros.

11Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

12Ninguém jamais viu a Deus; se nos amamos uns aos outros, Deus está em nós, e em nós é perfeito o seu amor.

12No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

13Nisto conhecemos que estamos nele, e ele em nós, pois que nos deu do seu Espírito.

13Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

14E vimos, e testificamos que o Pai enviou seu Filho para Salvador do mundo.

14And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son {to be} the Saviour of the world.

15Qualquer que confessar que Jesus é o Filho de Deus, Deus está nele, e ele em Deus.

15Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

16E nós conhecemos, e cremos no amor que Deus nos tem. Deus é amor; e quem está em amor está em Deus, e Deus nele.

16And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

17Nisto é perfeito o amor para conosco, para que no dia do juízo tenhamos confiança; porque, qual ele é, somos nós também neste mundo.

17Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. {our love: Gr. love with us}

18No amor não há temor, antes o perfeito amor lança fora o temor; porque o temor tem consigo a pena, e o que teme não é perfeito em amor.

18There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

19Nós o amamos a ele porque ele nos amou primeiro.

19We love him, because he first loved us.

20Se alguém diz: Eu amo a Deus, e odeia a seu irmão, é mentiroso. Pois quem não ama a seu irmão, ao qual viu, como pode amar a Deus, a quem não viu?

20If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

21E dele temos este mandamento: que quem ama a Deus, ame também a seu irmão.

21And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
