1 João 3

1Vede quão grande amor nos tem concedido o Pai, que fôssemos chamados filhos de Deus. Por isso o mundo não nos conhece; porque não o conhece a ele.

1Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

2Amados, agora somos filhos de Deus, e ainda não é manifestado o que havemos de ser. Mas sabemos que, quando ele se manifestar, seremos semelhantes a ele; porque assim como é o veremos.

2Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

3E qualquer que nele tem esta esperança purifica-se a si mesmo, como também ele é puro.

3And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

4Qualquer que comete pecado, também comete iniqüidade; porque o pecado é iniqüidade.

4Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

5E bem sabeis que ele se manifestou para tirar os nossos pecados; e nele não há pecado.

5And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

6Qualquer que permanece nele não peca; qualquer que peca não o viu nem o conheceu.

6Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

7Filhinhos, ninguém vos engane. Quem pratica justiça é justo, assim como ele é justo.

7Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

8Quem comete o pecado é do diabo; porque o diabo peca desde o princípio. Para isto o Filho de Deus se manifestou: para desfazer as obras do diabo.

8He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

9Qualquer que é nascido de Deus não comete pecado; porque a sua semente permanece nele; e não pode pecar, porque é nascido de Deus.

9Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. {is born: or, has been born}

10Nisto são manifestos os filhos de Deus, e os filhos do diabo. Qualquer que não pratica a justiça, e não ama a seu irmão, não é de Deus.

10In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

11Porque esta é a mensagem que ouvistes desde o princípio: que nos amemos uns aos outros.

11For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. {message: or, commandment}

12Não como Caim, que era do maligno, e matou a seu irmão. E por que causa o matou? Porque as suas obras eram más e as de seu irmão justas.

12Not as Cain, {who} was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.

13Meus irmãos, não vos maravilheis, se o mundo vos odeia.

13Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.

14Nós sabemos que passamos da morte para a vida, porque amamos os irmãos. Quem não ama a seu irmão permanece na morte.

14We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not {his} brother abideth in death.

15Qualquer que odeia a seu irmão é homicida. E vós sabeis que nenhum homicida tem a vida eterna permanecendo nele.

15Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

16Conhecemos o amor nisto: que ele deu a sua vida por nós, e nós devemos dar a vida pelos irmãos.

16Hereby perceive we the love {of God}, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down {our} lives for the brethren.

17Quem, pois, tiver bens do mundo, e, vendo o seu irmão necessitado, lhe cerrar as suas entranhas, como estará nele o amor de Deus?

17But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels {of compassion} from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

18Meus filhinhos, não amemos de palavra, nem de língua, mas por obra e em verdade.

18My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

19E nisto conhecemos que somos da verdade, e diante dele asseguraremos nossos corações;

19And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. {assure: Gr. persuade}

20Sabendo que, se o nosso coração nos condena, maior é Deus do que o nosso coração, e conhece todas as coisas.

20For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

21Amados, se o nosso coração não nos condena, temos confiança para com Deus;

21Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, {then} have we confidence toward God.

22E qualquer coisa que lhe pedirmos, dele a receberemos, porque guardamos os seus mandamentos, e fazemos o que é agradável à sua vista.

22And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

23E o seu mandamento é este: que creiamos no nome de seu Filho Jesus Cristo, e nos amemos uns aos outros, segundo o seu mandamento.

23And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

24E aquele que guarda os seus mandamentos nele está, e ele nele. E nisto conhecemos que ele está em nós, pelo Espírito que nos tem dado.

24And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
