1 Esdras 9

1Então Esdras, levantando-se do pátio do templo, dirigiu-se à câmara de Joanã, filho de Eliasibe,

1Then Esdras rising from the court of the temple went to the chamber of Joanan the son of Eliasib,

2E permaneceu lá, e não comeu carne nem bebeu água, lamentando as grandes iniqüidades da multidão.

2And remained there, and did eat no meat nor drink water, mourning for the great iniquities of the multitude.

3E houve uma proclamação em todos os judeus e em Jerusalém, a todos os que estavam no cativeiro, para que se reunissem em Jerusalém:

3And there was a proclamation in all Jewry and Jerusalem to all them that were of the captivity, that they should be gathered together at Jerusalem:

4E que todo aquele que não se reunisse lá dentro de dois ou três dias, conforme indicado pelos anciãos que governavam, seu gado seria apreendido para uso do templo, e ele mesmo seria expulso dos que estavam no cativeiro.

4And that whosoever met not there within two or three days according as the elders that bare rule appointed, their cattle should be seized to the use of the temple, and himself cast out from them that were of the captivity.

5E em três dias todos os da tribo de Judá e Benjamim se reuniram em Jerusalém, no vigésimo dia do nono mês.

5And in three days were all they of the tribe of Judah and Benjamin gathered together at Jerusalem the twentieth day of the ninth month.

6E toda a multidão sentou-se tremendo no amplo pátio do templo por causa do mau tempo que estava acontecendo.

6And all the multitude sat trembling in the broad court of the temple because of the present foul weather.

7Então Esdras se levantou e disse-lhes: Vocês transgrediram a lei ao se casarem com mulheres estranhas, aumentando assim os pecados de Israel.

7So Esdras arose up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed the law in marrying strange wives, thereby to increase the sins of Israel.

8E agora, confessando, dai glória ao Senhor Deus de nossos pais,

8And now by confessing give glory unto the Lord God of our fathers,

9E façam a vontade dele, e separem-se dos gentios da terra e das mulheres estranhas.

9And do his will, and separate yourselves from the heathen of the land, and from the strange women.

10Então clamou toda a multidão e disse em alta voz: Como disseste, assim faremos.

10Then cried the whole multitude, and said with a loud voice, Like as thou hast spoken, so will we do.

11Mas visto que o povo é muito grande e o tempo está mau, de modo que não podemos ficar sem, e isso não é uma obra de um ou dois dias, visto que o nosso pecado nestas coisas está muito espalhado:

11But forasmuch as the people are many, and it is foul weather, so that we cannot stand without, and this is not a work of a day or two, seeing our sin in these things is spread far:

12Fiquem, pois, os governantes da multidão, e venham no tempo determinado todos os que têm mulheres estranhas nas nossas habitações,

12Therefore let the rulers of the multitude stay, and let all them of our habitations that have strange wives come at the time appointed,

13E com eles os governantes e juízes de todos os lugares, até que desviemos de nós a ira do Senhor por este assunto.

13And with them the rulers and judges of every place, till we turn away the wrath of the Lord from us for this matter.

14Então Jônatas, filho de Azael, e Ezequias, filho de Teócano, assumiram este assunto; e Mosollam, Levis e Sabbatheus os ajudaram.

14Then Jonathan the son of Azael and Ezechias the son of Theocanus accordingly took this matter upon them: and Mosollam and Levis and Sabbatheus helped them.

15E os que eram do cativeiro fizeram conforme todas estas coisas.

15And they that were of the captivity did according to all these things.

16E Esdras, o sacerdote, escolheu para ele os principais homens de suas famílias, todos por nome: e no primeiro dia do décimo mês eles se sentaram juntos para examinar o assunto.

16And Esdras the priest chose unto him the principal men of their families, all by name: and in the first day of the tenth month they sat together to examine the matter.

17Assim, a causa deles, que mantinha esposas estranhas, foi encerrada no primeiro dia do primeiro mês.

17So their cause that held strange wives was brought to an end in the first day of the first month.

18E dos sacerdotes que se reuniram e tinham esposas estranhas, foram encontrados:

18And of the priests that were come together, and had strange wives, there were found:

19Dos filhos de Jesus, filho de Josedec, e de seus irmãos; Matthelas e Eleazar, e Joribus e Joadanus.

19Of the sons of Jesus the son of Josedec, and his brethren; Matthelas and Eleazar, and Joribus and Joadanus.

20E eles deram as mãos para despedir suas esposas e oferecer carneiros para fazerem a reconciliação pelos seus erros.

20And they gave their hands to put away their wives and to offer rams to make reconcilement for their errors.

21E dos filhos de Emmer; Ananias, e Zabdeus, e Eanes, e Sameius, e Hiereel, e Azarias.

21And of the sons of Emmer; Ananias, and Zabdeus, and Eanes, and Sameius, and Hiereel, and Azarias.

22E dos filhos de Phaisur; Elionas, Massias Israel e Natanael, e Ocidelus e Talsas.

22And of the sons of Phaisur; Elionas, Massias Israel, and Nathanael, and Ocidelus and Talsas.

23E dos levitas; Jozabad, e Semis, e Colius, chamado Calitas, e Patheus, e Judas, e Jonas.

23And of the Levites; Jozabad, and Semis, and Colius, who was called Calitas, and Patheus, and Judas, and Jonas.

24Dos cantores sagrados; Eleazuro, Baco.

24Of the holy singers; Eleazurus, Bacchurus.

25Dos porteiros; Sallumus e Tolbanes.

25Of the porters; Sallumus, and Tolbanes.

26Dos de Israel, dos filhos de Foros; Hiermas, e Eddias, e Melquias, e Maelus, e Eleazar, e Asibias, e Baanias.

26Of them of Israel, of the sons of Phoros; Hiermas, and Eddias, and Melchias, and Maelus, and Eleazar, and Asibias, and Baanias.

27Dos filhos de Ela; Mathanias, Zacharias, e Hierielus, e Hieremoth, e Aedias.

27Of the sons of Ela; Matthanias, Zacharias, and Hierielus, and Hieremoth, and Aedias.

28E dos filhos de Zamoth; Eliadas, Elisimus, Othonias, Jarimoth e Sabatus e Sardeus.

28And of the sons of Zamoth; Eliadas, Elisimus, Othonias, Jarimoth, and Sabatus, and Sardeus.

29Dos filhos de Babai; Johannes, e Ananias e Josabad, e Amatheis.

29Of the sons of Babai; Johannes, and Ananias and Josabad, and Amatheis.

30Dos filhos de Mani; Olamus, Mamuchus, Jedeus, Jasubus, Jasael e Hieremoth.

30Of the sons of Mani; Olamus, Mamuchus, Jedeus, Jasubus, Jasael, and Hieremoth.

31E dos filhos de Addi; Naathus, e Moosias, Lacunus, e Naidus, e Mathanias, e Sesthel, Balnuus e Manassés.

31And of the sons of Addi; Naathus, and Moosias, Lacunus, and Naidus, and Mathanias, and Sesthel, Balnuus, and Manasseas.

32E dos filhos de Anás; Elionas e Aseas, e Melchias, e Sabbeus, e Simon Chosameus.

32And of the sons of Annas; Elionas and Aseas, and Melchias, and Sabbeus, and Simon Chosameus.

33E dos filhos de Asom; Altaneu, e Matias, e Baanaia, Elifelete, e Manassés, e Semei.

33And of the sons of Asom; Altaneus, and Matthias, and Baanaia, Eliphalet, and Manasses, and Semei.

34E dos filhos de Maani; Jeremias, Momdis, Omaerus, Juel, Mabdai, e Pelias, e Anos, Carabasion, e Enasibus, e Mamnitanaimus, Eliasis, Bannus, Eliali, Samis, Selemias, Nathanias: e dos filhos de Ozora; Sesis, Esril, Azaelus, Samatus, Zambis, Josefo.

34And of the sons of Maani; Jeremias, Momdis, Omaerus, Juel, Mabdai, and Pelias, and Anos, Carabasion, and Enasibus, and Mamnitanaimus, Eliasis, Bannus, Eliali, Samis, Selemias, Nathanias: and of the sons of Ozora; Sesis, Esril, Azaelus, Samatus, Zambis, Josephus.

35E dos filhos de Etma; Mazitias, Zabadaias, Edes, Juel, Banaias.

35And of the sons of Ethma; Mazitias, Zabadaias, Edes, Juel, Banaias.

36Todos estes haviam tomado esposas estranhas e as repudiaram com seus filhos.

36All these had taken strange wives, and they put them away with their children.

37E os sacerdotes e os levitas, e os que eram de Israel habitaram em Jerusalém e na região, no primeiro dia do sétimo mês; assim estavam os filhos de Israel nas suas habitações.

37And the priests and Levites, and they that were of Israel, dwelt in Jerusalem, and in the country, in the first day of the seventh month: so the children of Israel were in their habitations.

38E toda a multidão reuniu-se de comum acordo no amplo espaço do pórtico sagrado, para o oriente.

38And the whole multitude came together with one accord into the broad place of the holy porch toward the east:

39E eles falaram a Esdras, o sacerdote e leitor, que ele traria a lei de Moisés, que foi dada pelo Senhor Deus de Israel.

39And they spake unto Esdras the priest and reader, that he would bring the law of Moses, that was given of the Lord God of Israel.

40Assim, Esdras, o sumo sacerdote, levou a lei a toda a multidão, desde o homem até à mulher, e a todos os sacerdotes, para ouvirem a lei no primeiro dia do sétimo mês.

40So Esdras the chief priest brought the law unto the whole multitude from man to woman, and to all the priests, to hear law in the first day of the seventh month.

41E ele leu no amplo pátio, diante do pórtico sagrado, desde a manhã até o meio-dia, diante de homens e mulheres; e a multidão obedeceu à lei.

41And he read in the broad court before the holy porch from morning unto midday, before both men and women; and the multitude gave heed unto the law.

42E Esdras, o sacerdote e leitor da lei, levantou-se sobre um púlpito de madeira, que foi feito para esse fim.

42And Esdras the priest and reader of the law stood up upon a pulpit of wood, which was made for that purpose.

43E ao lado dele se levantaram Matatias, Sammos, Ananias, Azarias, Urias, Ezecias, Balasamus, à direita:

43And there stood up by him Mattathias, Sammus, Ananias, Azarias, Urias, Ezecias, Balasamus, upon the right hand:

44E à sua esquerda estavam Faldaio, Misael, Melquias, Lotasubo e Nabarias.

44And upon his left hand stood Phaldaius, Misael, Melchias, Lothasubus, and Nabarias.

45Então Esdras levou o livro da lei diante da multidão: pois ele sentou-se honrosamente em primeiro lugar à vista de todos eles.

45Then took Esdras the book of the law before the multitude: for he sat honourably in the first place in the sight of them all.

46E quando ele abriu a lei, eles ficaram todos em pé. Então Esdras abençoou o Senhor Deus Altíssimo, o Deus dos Exércitos, Todo-Poderoso.

46And when he opened the law, they stood all straight up. So Esdras blessed the Lord God most High, the God of hosts, Almighty.

47E todo o povo respondeu: Amém; e levantando as mãos, caíram por terra e adoraram ao Senhor.

47And all the people answered, Amen; and lifting up their hands they fell to the ground, and worshipped the Lord.

48Também Jesus, Anus, Sarabias, Adinus, Jacubus, Sabateas, Auteas, Maianeas, e Calitas, Asrias, e Joazabdus, e Ananias, Biatas, os levitas, ensinaram a lei do Senhor, fazendo-os também compreendê-la.

48Also Jesus, Anus, Sarabias, Adinus, Jacubus, Sabateas, Auteas, Maianeas, and Calitas, Asrias, and Joazabdus, and Ananias, Biatas, the Levites, taught the law of the Lord, making them withal to understand it.

49Então falou Attharates a Esdras, o sumo sacerdote. e leitor, e aos levitas que ensinavam a multidão, sim, a todos, dizendo:

49Then spake Attharates unto Esdras the chief priest. and reader, and to the Levites that taught the multitude, even to all, saying,

50Este dia é santo ao Senhor; (pois todos choraram quando ouviram a lei:)

50This day is holy unto the Lord; (for they all wept when they heard the law:)

51Vá então, e coma a gordura, e beba o doce, e envie parte aos que não têm nada;

51Go then, and eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send part to them that have nothing;

52Porque este dia é santo ao Senhor; e não vos entristeçais; porque o Senhor te trará honra.

52For this day is holy unto the Lord: and be not sorrowful; for the Lord will bring you to honour.

53Então os levitas publicaram tudo ao povo, dizendo: Este dia é santo ao Senhor; não fique triste.

53So the Levites published all things to the people, saying, This day is holy to the Lord; be not sorrowful.

54Então partiram, cada um para comer e beber, e se divertir, e para dar parte aos que nada tinham, e para fazer grande alegria;

54Then went they their way, every one to eat and drink, and make merry, and to give part to them that had nothing, and to make great cheer;

55Porque eles entenderam as palavras em que foram instruídos e para as quais foram reunidos.

55Because they understood the words wherein they were instructed, and for the which they had been assembled.
