1 Esdras 8

1E depois destas coisas, quando Artexerxes, rei dos persas, veio Esdras, filho de Saraias, filho de Ezerias, filho de Helquias, filho de Salum,

1And after these things, when Artexerxes the king of the Persians reigned came Esdras the son of Saraias, the son of Ezerias, the son of Helchiah, the son of Salum,

2Filho de Saduque, filho de Aquitobe, filho de Amarias, filho de Ezias, filho de Meremote, filho de Zaraias, filho de Savias, filho de Boccas, filho de Abisum, filho de Finéias, filho de Eleazar, filho de Aarão, o sumo sacerdote.

2The son of Sadduc, the son of Achitob, the son of Amarias, the son of Ezias, the son of Meremoth, the son of Zaraias, the son of Savias, the son of Boccas, the son of Abisum, the son of Phinees, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest.

3Este Esdras subiu de Babilônia, como escriba, estando muito a par da lei de Moisés, que foi dada pelo Deus de Israel.

3This Esdras went up from Babylon, as a scribe, being very ready in the law of Moses, that was given by the God of Israel.

4E o rei lhe honrou, porque achou graça aos seus olhos em todos os seus pedidos.

4And the king did him honour: for he found grace in his sight in all his requests.

5Também subiram com ele alguns dos filhos de Israel, dos sacerdotes dos levitas, dos santos cantores, dos porteiros e dos ministros do templo, a Jerusalém,

5There went up with him also certain of the children of Israel, of the priest of the Levites, of the holy singers, porters, and ministers of the temple, unto Jerusalem,

6No sétimo ano do reinado de Artexerxes, no quinto mês, foi este o sétimo ano do rei; porque saíram de Babilônia no primeiro dia do primeiro mês e chegaram a Jerusalém, segundo a próspera jornada que o Senhor lhes havia dado.

6In the seventh year of the reign of Artexerxes, in the fifth month, this was the king’s seventh year; for they went from Babylon in the first day of the first month, and came to Jerusalem, according to the prosperous journey which the Lord gave them.

7Pois Esdras tinha muita habilidade, de modo que nada omitiu da lei e dos mandamentos do Senhor, mas ensinou a todo o Israel as ordenanças e os julgamentos.

7For Esdras had very great skill, so that he omitted nothing of the law and commandments of the Lord, but taught all Israel the ordinances and judgments.

8Agora, a cópia da comissão, que foi escrita pelo rei Artexerxes, e chegou a Esdras, o sacerdote e leitor da lei do Senhor, é esta que se segue;

8Now the copy of the commission, which was written from Artexerxes the king, and came to Esdras the priest and reader of the law of the Lord, is this that followeth;

9O rei Artexerxes a Esdras, o sacerdote e leitor da lei do Senhor, envia saudações:

9King Artexerxes unto Esdras the priest and reader of the law of the Lord sendeth greeting:

10Tendo determinado agir graciosamente, dei ordem para que aqueles da nação dos judeus, e dos sacerdotes e levitas que estão dentro de nosso reino, que estejam dispostos e desejosos, vão contigo para Jerusalém.

10Having determined to deal graciously, I have given order, that such of the nation of the Jews, and of the priests and Levites being within our realm, as are willing and desirous should go with thee unto Jerusalem.

11Portanto, todos os que desejarem isso, que partam contigo, como pareceu bem a mim e aos meus sete amigos, os conselheiros;

11As many therefore as have a mind thereunto, let them depart with thee, as it hath seemed good both to me and my seven friends the counsellors;

12Para que possam cuidar dos assuntos da Judéia e de Jerusalém, de acordo com o que está na lei do Senhor;

12That they may look unto the affairs of Judea and Jerusalem, agreeably to that which is in the law of the Lord;

13E leve os presentes ao Senhor de Israel para Jerusalém, que eu e meus amigos juramos, e todo o ouro e prata que no país da Babilônia puderem ser encontrados, ao Senhor em Jerusalém,

13And carry the gifts unto the Lord of Israel to Jerusalem, which I and my friends have vowed, and all the gold and silver that in the country of Babylon can be found, to the Lord in Jerusalem,

14Com aquilo também que é dado do povo para o templo do Senhor seu Deus em Jerusalém: e que prata e ouro podem ser recolhidos para novilhos, carneiros e cordeiros, e coisas a eles pertencentes;

14With that also which is given of the people for the temple of the Lord their God at Jerusalem: and that silver and gold may be collected for bullocks, rams, and lambs, and things thereunto appertaining;

15Para que ofereçam sacrifícios ao Senhor sobre o altar do Senhor seu Deus, que está em Jerusalém.

15To the end that they may offer sacrifices unto the Lord upon the altar of the Lord their God, which is in Jerusalem.

16E tudo o que tu e teus irmãos fizerem com a prata e o ouro, façam-no de acordo com a vontade do teu Deus.

16And whatsoever thou and thy brethren will do with the silver and gold, that do, according to the will of thy God.

17E os vasos sagrados do Senhor, que te são dados para uso do templo do teu Deus, que está em Jerusalém, porás diante do teu Deus em Jerusalém.

17And the holy vessels of the Lord, which are given thee for the use of the temple of thy God, which is in Jerusalem, thou shalt set before thy God in Jerusalem.

18E tudo o mais que te lembrares para uso do templo do teu Deus, tu o darás do tesouro do rei.

18And whatsoever thing else thou shalt remember for the use of the temple of thy God, thou shalt give it out of the king’s treasury.

19E eu, o rei Artexerxes, também ordenei aos guardiões dos tesouros da Síria e da Fenícia, que tudo o que Esdras, o sacerdote e leitor da lei do Deus Altíssimo, mandar buscar, eles o entregarão rapidamente,

19And I king Artexerxes have also commanded the keepers of the treasures in Syria and Phenice, that whatsoever Esdras the priest and the reader of the law of the most high God shall send for, they should give it him with speed,

20À soma de cem talentos de prata, e também de trigo até cem cors, e cem peças de vinho, e outras coisas em abundância.

20To the sum of an hundred talents of silver, likewise also of wheat even to an hundred cors, and an hundred pieces of wine, and other things in abundance.

21Que todas as coisas sejam realizadas segundo a lei de Deus diligentemente ao Deus Altíssimo, para que a ira não caia sobre o reino do rei e de seus filhos.

21Let all things be performed after the law of God diligently unto the most high God, that wrath come not upon the kingdom of the king and his sons.

22Ordeno-vos também que não exijais nenhum imposto, nem qualquer outra imposição, de nenhum dos sacerdotes, ou levitas, ou cantores santos, ou porteiros, ou ministros do templo, ou de qualquer um que tenha ações neste templo, e que nenhum homem tenha autoridade para impor qualquer coisa sobre eles.

22I command you also, that ye require no tax, nor any other imposition, of any of the priests, or Levites, or holy singers, or porters, or ministers of the temple, or of any that have doings in this temple, and that no man have authority to impose any thing upon them.

23E tu, Esdras, segundo a sabedoria de Deus, ordena juízes e juízes, para que possam julgar em toda a Síria e Fenícia todos aqueles que conhecem a lei do teu Deus; e aqueles que não sabem, tu ensinarás.

23And thou, Esdras, according to the wisdom of God ordain judges and justices, that they may judge in all Syria and Phenice all those that know the law of thy God; and those that know it not thou shalt teach.

24E todo aquele que transgredir a lei do teu Deus e do rei será punido diligentemente, seja com a morte ou outra punição, com multa em dinheiro ou com prisão.

24And whosoever shall transgress the law of thy God, and of the king, shall be punished diligently, whether it be by death, or other punishment, by penalty of money, or by imprisonment.

25Então disse Esdras, o escriba: Bendito seja o único Senhor Deus de meus pais, que pôs estas coisas no coração do rei, para glorificar a sua casa que está em Jerusalém:

25Then said Esdras the scribe, Blessed be the only Lord God of my fathers, who hath put these things into the heart of the king, to glorify his house that is in Jerusalem:

26E me honrou aos olhos do rei, e de seus conselheiros, e de todos os seus amigos e nobres.

26And hath honoured me in the sight of the king, and his counsellors, and all his friends and nobles.

27Por isso fui encorajado pela ajuda do Senhor meu Deus, e reuni homens de Israel para subirem comigo.

27Therefore was I encouraged by the help of the Lord my God, and gathered together men of Israel to go up with me.

28E estes são os chefes, segundo as suas famílias e diversas dignidades, que subiram comigo da Babilônia, no reinado do rei Artexerxes:

28And these are the chief according to their families and several dignities, that went up with me from Babylon in the reign of king Artexerxes:

29Dos filhos de Finéias, Gérson; dos filhos de Itamar, Gamael; dos filhos de Davi, Leto, filho de Sequênias:

29Of the sons of Phinees, Gerson: of the sons of Ithamar, Gamael: of the sons of David, Lettus the son of Sechenias:

30Dos filhos de Perez, Zacarias; e com ele foram contados cento e cinquenta homens:

30Of the sons of Pharez, Zacharias; and with him were counted an hundred and fifty men:

31Dos filhos de Pahath Moab, Eliaonias, filho de Zaraias, e com ele duzentos homens:

31Of the sons of Pahath Moab, Eliaonias, the son of Zaraias, and with him two hundred men:

32Dos filhos de Zathoe, Sequênias, filho de Jzelus, e com ele trezentos homens; dos filhos de Adin, Obete, filho de Jônatas, e com ele duzentos e cinquenta homens:

32Of the sons of Zathoe, Sechenias the son of Jezelus, and with him three hundred men: of the sons of Adin, Obeth the son of Jonathan, and with him two hundred and fifty men:

33Dos filhos de Elão, Josias, filho de Gotolias, e com ele setenta homens:

33Of the sons of Elam, Josias son of Gotholias, and with him seventy men:

34Dos filhos de Safatias, Zaraias, filho de Miguel, e com ele sessenta e dez homens:

34Of the sons of Saphatias, Zaraias son of Michael, and with him threescore and ten men:

35Dos filhos de Joabe, Abadias, filho de Jzelus, e com ele duzentos e doze homens:

35Of the sons of Joab, Abadias son of Jezelus, and with him two hundred and twelve men:

36Dos filhos de Banide, Assalimote, filho de Josafias, e com ele cento e sessenta homens:

36Of the sons of Banid, Assalimoth son of Josaphias, and with him an hundred and threescore men:

37Dos filhos de Babi, Zacarias, filho de Bebai, e com ele vinte e oito homens:

37Of the sons of Babi, Zacharias son of Bebai, and with him twenty and eight men:

38Dos filhos de Astath, Johannes, filho de Acatan, e com ele cento e dez homens:

38Of the sons of Astath, Johannes son of Acatan, and with him an hundred and ten men:

39Dos filhos de Adonicam, o último, e estes são os nomes deles: Eliphalet, Jewel e Samaias, e com eles setenta homens:

39Of the sons of Adonikam the last, and these are the names of them, Eliphalet, Jewel, and Samaias, and with them seventy men:

40Dos filhos de Bago, Uthi, filho de Istalcurus, e com ele setenta homens.

40Of the sons of Bago, Uthi the son of Istalcurus, and with him seventy men.

41E estes reuni-os no rio chamado Theras, onde armamos nossas tendas por três dias: e então os examinei.

41And these I gathered together to the river called Theras, where we pitched our tents three days: and then I surveyed them.

42Mas quando não encontrei ali nenhum dos sacerdotes e levitas,

42But when I had found there none of the priests and Levites,

43Então enviei a Eleazar, e a Iduel, e a Masman,

43Then sent I unto Eleazar, and Iduel, and Masman,

44E Alnathan, e Mamaias, e Joribas, e Nathan, Eunatan, Zacharias e Mosollamon, homens principais e eruditos.

44And Alnathan, and Mamaias, and Joribas, and Nathan, Eunatan, Zacharias, and Mosollamon, principal men and learned.

45E ordenei-lhes que fossem até o capitão Saddeus, que estava no lugar da tesouraria:

45And I bade them that they should go unto Saddeus the captain, who was in the place of the treasury:

46E ordenou-lhes que falassem a Papai Deus, e a seus irmãos, e aos tesoureiros daquele lugar, para nos enviarem homens que pudessem exercer o ofício sacerdotal na casa do Senhor.

46And commanded them that they should speak unto Daddeus, and to his brethren, and to the treasurers in that place, to send us such men as might execute the priests’ office in the house of the Lord.

47E pela poderosa mão de nosso Senhor eles nos trouxeram homens hábeis dos filhos de Moli, filho de Levi, filho de Israel, Asebebia, e seus filhos, e seus irmãos, que eram dezoito anos.

47And by the mighty hand of our Lord they brought unto us skilful men of the sons of Moli the son of Levi, the son of Israel, Asebebia, and his sons, and his brethren, who were eighteen.

48E Asébia, e Ano, e Osaias, seu irmão, dos filhos de Chanuneu, e seus filhos, eram vinte homens.

48And Asebia, and Annus, and Osaias his brother, of the sons of Channuneus, and their sons, were twenty men.

49E dos servos do templo que Davi havia ordenado, e dos principais homens para o serviço dos levitas, a saber, os servos do templo duzentos e vinte, cujo catálogo de nomes foi mostrado.

49And of the servants of the temple whom David had ordained, and the principal men for the service of the Levites to wit, the servants of the temple two hundred and twenty, the catalogue of whose names were shewed.

50E ali jurei um jejum aos jovens diante de nosso Senhor, para desejar-lhe uma jornada próspera, tanto para nós como para os que estavam conosco, para nossos filhos e para o gado:

50And there I vowed a fast unto the young men before our Lord, to desire of him a prosperous journey both for us and them that were with us, for our children, and for the cattle:

51Pois tive vergonha de pedir ao rei soldados de infantaria, cavaleiros e conduta para proteção contra nossos adversários.

51For I was ashamed to ask the king footmen, and horsemen, and conduct for safeguard against our adversaries.

52Pois havíamos dito ao rei que o poder do Senhor nosso Deus deveria estar com aqueles que o buscam, para apoiá-los em todos os sentidos.

52For we had said unto the king, that the power of the Lord our God should be with them that seek him, to support them in all ways.

53E novamente suplicamos a nosso Senhor a respeito dessas coisas e o achamos favorável para nós.

53And again we besought our Lord as touching these things, and found him favourable unto us.

54Então separei doze dos chefes dos sacerdotes, Esébrias e Assânias, e com eles dez homens de seus irmãos:

54Then I separated twelve of the chief of the priests, Esebrias, and Assanias, and ten men of their brethren with them:

55E pesei-lhes o ouro, e a prata, e os vasos sagrados da casa de nosso Senhor, que o rei, e o seu conselho, e os príncipes, e todo o Israel tinham dado.

55And I weighed them the gold, and the silver, and the holy vessels of the house of our Lord, which the king, and his council, and the princes, and all Israel, had given.

56E depois de pesá-lo, entreguei-lhes seiscentos e cinquenta talentos de prata, e vasos de prata de cem talentos, e cem talentos de ouro,

56And when I had weighed it, I delivered unto them six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and silver vessels of an hundred talents, and an hundred talents of gold,

57E vinte vasos de ouro e doze vasos de latão, sim, de latão fino, reluzindo como ouro.

57And twenty golden vessels, and twelve vessels of brass, even of fine brass, glittering like gold.

58E eu lhes disse: Ambos sois santos ao Senhor, e os vasos são santos, e o ouro e a prata são um voto ao Senhor, o Senhor de nossos pais.

58And I said unto them, Both ye are holy unto the Lord, and the vessels are holy, and the gold and the silver is a vow unto the Lord, the Lord of our fathers.

59Vigiai e guardai-os até que os entregueis aos chefes dos sacerdotes e aos levitas, e aos principais homens das famílias de Israel, em Jerusalém, nas câmaras da casa do nosso Deus.

59Watch ye, and keep them till ye deliver them to the chief of the priests and Levites, and to the principal men of the families of Israel, in Jerusalem, into the chambers of the house of our God.

60Então os sacerdotes e os levitas, que haviam recebido a prata, o ouro e os utensílios, os levaram a Jerusalém, ao templo do Senhor.

60So the priests and the Levites, who had received the silver and the gold and the vessels, brought them unto Jerusalem, into the temple of the Lord.

61E do rio Theras partimos no décimo segundo dia do primeiro mês, e chegamos a Jerusalém pela mão poderosa de nosso Senhor, que estava conosco: e desde o início de nossa jornada o Senhor nos livrou de todo inimigo, e assim chegamos a Jerusalém.

61And from the river Theras we departed the twelfth day of the first month, and came to Jerusalem by the mighty hand of our Lord, which was with us: and from the beginning of our journey the Lord delivered us from every enemy, and so we came to Jerusalem.

62E quando estivemos lá três dias, o ouro e a prata que foram pesados ​​foram entregues na casa de nosso Senhor no quarto dia a Marmoth, o sacerdote, filho de Iri.

62And when we had been there three days, the gold and silver that was weighed was delivered in the house of our Lord on the fourth day unto Marmoth the priest the son of Iri.

63E com ele estava Eleazar, filho de Finéias, e com eles Josabad, filho de Jesu, e Moeth, filho de Sabban, levitas: tudo lhes foi entregue em número e peso.

63And with him was Eleazar the son of Phinees, and with them were Josabad the son of Jesu and Moeth the son of Sabban, Levites: all was delivered them by number and weight.

64E todo o peso deles foi escrito na mesma hora.

64And all the weight of them was written up the same hour.

65Além disso, os que saíram do cativeiro ofereceram sacrifícios ao Senhor Deus de Israel, doze novilhos para todo o Israel, oitenta e dezesseis carneiros,

65Moreover they that were come out of the captivity offered sacrifice unto the Lord God of Israel, even twelve bullocks for all Israel, fourscore and sixteen rams,

66Sessenta e doze cordeiros, bodes para oferta pacífica, doze; todos eles um sacrifício ao Senhor.

66Threescore and twelve lambs, goats for a peace offering, twelve; all of them a sacrifice to the Lord.

67E entregaram os mandamentos do rei aos despenseiros do rei e aos governadores da Celosíria e da Fenícia; e eles honraram o povo e o templo de Deus.

67And they delivered the king’s commandments unto the king’s stewards’ and to the governors of Celosyria and Phenice; and they honoured the people and the temple of God.

68Ora, quando estas coisas aconteceram, os príncipes vieram a mim e disseram:

68Now when these things were done, the rulers came unto me, and said,

69A nação de Israel, os príncipes, os sacerdotes e os levitas, não afastaram deles o povo estranho da terra, nem as poluições dos gentios, a saber, dos cananeus, dos hititas, dos fereseus, dos jebuseus, e dos moabitas, dos egípcios e dos edomitas.

69The nation of Israel, the princes, the priests and Levites, have not put away from them the strange people of the land, nor the pollutions of the Gentiles to wit, of the Canaanites, Hittites, Pheresites, Jebusites, and the Moabites, Egyptians, and Edomites.

70Porque tanto eles como seus filhos se casaram com as suas filhas, e a semente santa se misturou com o povo estranho da terra; e desde o início deste assunto os governantes e os grandes homens têm participado desta iniqüidade.

70For both they and their sons have married with their daughters, and the holy seed is mixed with the strange people of the land; and from the beginning of this matter the rulers and the great men have been partakers of this iniquity.

71E assim que ouvi essas coisas, rasguei minhas roupas e o manto sagrado, e tirei os cabelos da cabeça e da barba, e sentei-me triste e muito pesado.

71And as soon as I had heard these things, I rent my clothes, and the holy garment, and pulled off the hair from off my head and beard, and sat me down sad and very heavy.

72Então, todos os que então foram movidos pela palavra do Senhor Deus de Israel reuniram-se a mim, enquanto eu lamentava a iniqüidade; mas fiquei sentado ainda cheio de peso até o sacrifício da tarde.

72So all they that were then moved at the word of the Lord God of Israel assembled unto me, whilst I mourned for the iniquity: but I sat still full of heaviness until the evening sacrifice.

73Então, levantando-me do jejum com minhas vestes e as vestes sagradas rasgadas, e dobrando os joelhos, e estendendo as mãos para o Senhor,

73Then rising up from the fast with my clothes and the holy garment rent, and bowing my knees, and stretching forth my hands unto the Lord,

74Eu disse: Ó Senhor, estou confuso e envergonhado diante da tua face;

74I said, O Lord, I am confounded and ashamed before thy face;

75Porque os nossos pecados se multiplicaram acima das nossas cabeças, e as nossas ignorâncias chegaram até ao céu.

75For our sins are multiplied above our heads, and our ignorances have reached up unto heaven.

76Pois desde o tempo de nossos pais estivemos e continuamos em grande pecado, até hoje.

76For ever since the time of our fathers we have been and are in great sin, even unto this day.

77E pelos nossos pecados e pelos de nossos pais, nós, nossos irmãos, nossos reis e nossos sacerdotes fomos entregues aos reis da terra, à espada e ao cativeiro e como presa vergonhosa, até o dia de hoje.

77And for our sins and our fathers’ we with our brethren and our kings and our priests were given up unto the kings of the earth, to the sword, and to captivity, and for a prey with shame, unto this day.

78E agora, em certa medida, a misericórdia de ti nos foi mostrada, ó Senhor, para que nos fosse deixada uma raiz e um nome no lugar do teu santuário;

78And now in some measure hath mercy been shewed unto us from thee, O Lord, that there should be left us a root and a name in the place of thy sanctuary;

79E para nos descobrir uma luz na casa do Senhor nosso Deus, e para nos dar alimento no tempo da nossa servidão.

79And to discover unto us a light in the house of the Lord our God, and to give us food in the time of our servitude.

80Sim, quando estávamos em cativeiro, não fomos abandonados por nosso Senhor; mas ele nos fez misericordiosos diante dos reis da Pérsia, de modo que nos deram comida;

80Yea, when we were in bondage, we were not forsaken of our Lord; but he made us gracious before the kings of Persia, so that they gave us food;

81Sim, e honraram o templo de nosso Senhor, e ressuscitaram a desolada Sião, para que nos dessem uma permanência segura nos judeus e em Jerusalém.

81Yea, and honoured the temple of our Lord, and raised up the desolate Sion, that they have given us a sure abiding in Jewry and Jerusalem.

82E agora, ó Senhor, o que diremos, tendo estas coisas? porque transgredimos os teus mandamentos, que deste pela mão dos teus servos, os profetas, dizendo:

82And now, O Lord, what shall we say, having these things? for we have transgressed thy commandments, which thou gavest by the hand of thy servants the prophets, saying,

83Que a terra que entrais para possuir como herança é uma terra poluída com as poluições dos estrangeiros da terra, e eles a encheram com as suas imundícias.

83That the land, which ye enter into to possess as an heritage, is a land polluted with the pollutions of the strangers of the land, and they have filled it with their uncleanness.

84Portanto agora não unireis vossas filhas a seus filhos, nem tomareis suas filhas a vossos filhos.

84Therefore now shall ye not join your daughters unto their sons, neither shall ye take their daughters unto your sons.

85Além disso, nunca procurareis ter paz com eles, para que sejais fortes e comais as coisas boas da terra e para que possais deixar a herança da terra a vossos filhos para sempre.

85Moreover ye shall never seek to have peace with them, that ye may be strong, and eat the good things of the land, and that ye may leave the inheritance of the land unto your children for evermore.

86E tudo o que aconteceu foi feito a nós por nossas más obras e grandes pecados; pois tu, Senhor, tornaste leves os nossos pecados,

86And all that is befallen is done unto us for our wicked works and great sins; for thou, O Lord, didst make our sins light,

87E nos deste tal raiz; mas voltamos novamente para transgredir a tua lei e nos misturarmos com a impureza das nações da terra.

87And didst give unto us such a root: but we have turned back again to transgress thy law, and to mingle ourselves with the uncleanness of the nations of the land.

88Você não poderia estar zangado conosco para nos destruir, até que não nos deixasse nem raiz, semente, nem nome?

88Mightest not thou be angry with us to destroy us, till thou hadst left us neither root, seed, nor name?

89Ó Senhor de Israel, tu és verdadeiro; porque hoje nos resta uma raiz.

89O Lord of Israel, thou art true: for we are left a root this day.

90Eis que agora estamos diante de ti em nossas iniquidades, pois não podemos mais resistir por causa destas coisas diante de ti.

90Behold, now are we before thee in our iniquities, for we cannot stand any longer by reason of these things before thee.

91E enquanto Esdras em sua oração fazia sua confissão, chorando e deitado no chão diante do templo, reuniu-se a ele de Jerusalém uma grande multidão de homens, mulheres e crianças: porque havia grande choro entre a multidão.

91And as Esdras in his prayer made his confession, weeping, and lying flat upon the ground before the temple, there gathered unto him from Jerusalem a very great multitude of men and women and children: for there was great weeping among the multitude.

92Então Jeconias, filho de Jeelus, um dos filhos de Israel, gritou e disse: Ó Esdras, pecamos contra o Senhor Deus, nos casamos com mulheres estranhas das nações da terra, e agora todo o Israel está nas alturas.

92Then Jechonias the son of Jeelus, one of the sons of Israel, called out, and said, O Esdras, we have sinned against the Lord God, we have married strange women of the nations of the land, and now is all Israel aloft.

93Façamos um juramento ao Senhor de que despediremos todas as nossas mulheres, que tomamos dos gentios, com seus filhos,

93Let us make an oath to the Lord, that we will put away all our wives, which we have taken of the heathen, with their children,

94Como você decretou, e todos os que obedecem à lei do Senhor.

94Like as thou hast decreed, and as many as do obey the law of the Lord.

95Levante-se e ponha-se em execução: pois a ti pertence este assunto, e estaremos contigo: faze valentemente.

95Arise and put in execution: for to thee doth this matter appertain, and we will be with thee: do valiantly.

96Então Esdras se levantou e jurou aos chefes dos sacerdotes e dos levitas de todo o Israel que fizessem estas coisas; e então eles juraram.

96So Esdras arose, and took an oath of the chief of the priests and Levites of all Israel to do after these things; and so they sware.
