1 Crônicas 14

1Então Hirão, rei de Tiro, mandou mensageiros a Davi, e madeira de cedro, e pedreiros, e carpinteiros, para lhe edificarem uma casa.

1Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build him an house.

2E entendeu Davi que o Senhor o tinha confirmado rei sobre Israel; porque o seu reino tinha sido muito exaltado por amor do seu povo Israel.

2And David perceived that the LORD had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.

3E Davi tomou ainda mais mulheres em Jerusalém; e gerou Davi ainda mais filhos e filhas.

3And David took more wives at Jerusalem: and David begat more sons and daughters. {more: Heb. yet}

4E estes são os nomes dos filhos que teve em Jerusalém: Samua, Sobabe, Natã, Salomão,

4Now these {are} the names of {his} children which he had in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,

5E Ibar, Elisua, Elpelete,

5And Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,

6E Nogá, Nefegue, Jafia,

6And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

7E Elisama, Eliada, e Elifelete.

7And Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet. {Beeliada: also called, Eliada}

8Ouvindo, pois, os filisteus que Davi havia sido ungido rei sobre todo o Israel, todos os filisteus subiram em busca de Davi; o que ouvindo Davi, logo saiu contra eles.

8And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard {of it}, and went out against them.

9E vindo os filisteus, se estenderam pelo vale de Refaim.

9And the Philistines came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

10Então consultou Davi a Deus, dizendo: Subirei contra os filisteus, e nas minhas mãos os entregarás? E o Senhor lhe disse: Sobe, porque os entregarei nas tuas mãos.

10And David enquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.

11E, subindo a Baal-Perazim, Davi ali os feriu; e disse Davi: Por minha mão Deus derrotou a meus inimigos, como se rompem as águas. Pelo que chamaram aquele lugar, Baal-Perazim.

11So they came up to Baalperazim; and David smote them there. Then David said, God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore they called the name of that place Baalperazim. {Baalperazim: that is, A place of breaches}

12E deixaram ali seus deuses; e ordenou Davi que se queimassem a fogo;

12And when they had left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.

13Porém os filisteus tornaram, e se estenderam pelo vale.

13And the Philistines yet again spread themselves abroad in the valley.

14E tornou Davi a consultar a Deus; e disse-lhe Deus: Não subirás atrás deles; mas rodeia-os por detrás, e vem a eles por defronte das amoreiras;

14Therefore David enquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.

15E há de ser que, ouvindo tu um ruído de marcha pelas copas das amoreiras, então sairás à peleja; porque Deus terá saído diante de ti, para ferir o exército dos filisteus.

15And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, {that} then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.

16E fez Davi como Deus lhe ordenara; e feriram o exército dos filisteus desde Gibeom até Gezer.

16David therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer. {Gibeon: also called, Geba}

17Assim se espalhou o nome de Davi por todas aquelas terras; e o Senhor pôs o temor dele sobre todas aquelas nações.

17And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the LORD brought the fear of him upon all nations.
