1 Clemente 53

1Vós conheceis as sagradas escrituras, amados, e as conheceis bem, e haveis olhado para os oráculos de Deus.

1You know the sacred scriptures, beloved, and you know them well, and you have looked into the oracles of God.

2Portanto, vos escrevemos estas coisas como lembrança.

2Therefore, we write these things to you as a reminder.

3Quando Moisés subiu ao monte e passou quarenta dias e quarenta noites em jejum e humilhação, Deus lhe disse: Moisés, Moisés, desce depressa daqui, porque teu povo, que tiraste da terra do Egito, cometeu transgressão.

3When Moses went up to the mountain and spent forty days and forty nights in fasting and humiliation, God said to him: Moses, Moses, go down quickly from here, because your people, whom you brought out of the land of Egypt, have committed transgression.

4E Moisés disse: Senhor, se perdoares o pecado deles, perdoa; mas se não, apaga-me também do livro dos vivos.

4And Moses said: Lord, if you will forgive their sin, forgive; but if not, blot me also out of the book of the living.
