1 Clemente 36

1Este é o caminho, amados, no qual encontramos nossa salvação: Jesus Cristo, o sumo sacerdote de nossas ofertas, o guardião e ajudador de nossa fraqueza.

1This is the way, beloved, in which we find our salvation: Jesus Christ, the high priest of our offerings, the guardian and helper of our weakness.

2Por ele olhamos fixamente para as alturas dos céus; por ele vemos refletida a face imaculada e sublime de Deus.

2Through him we look steadfastly to the heights of heaven; through him we see reflected the spotless and sublime face of God.

3Por ele os olhos de nosso coração foram abertos; por ele nossa mente vazia e obscurecida brota para a luz.

3Through him the eyes of our heart were opened; through him our empty and darkened mind springs up to the light.

4Por ele o Senhor quis que provássemos o conhecimento imortal. Sendo o esplendor de sua majestade, ele é muito superior aos anjos.

4Through him the Lord willed that we should taste the immortal knowledge. Being the radiance of his majesty, he is much superior to the angels.
